Chakavak is a modern and luxurious residential building that is designed in a form of a quarter circle. This layout has allowed for unique and dynamic floor plans. The section of the building consists of 3 underground parking levels, ground level and 11 residential levels on top. A total of 152 units reside within the building. The 6th floor however has the luxury of a spacious green balcony that has served to shape the building in a unique fashion. These spaces are visible as they divide the building into two separate unities. This Buildings foot print is 30000m/sq and stand on a 4 acre district which is part of a 65 acre urban scale project. Chakavak embraces an interior central garden adjacent to 10 neighboring apartment buildings.
The building at the center is divided into two bodies, where in between this division raised gardens (green roofs) are apparent from the exterior. The spreading of the apartments and variety of the sizes and the connection between the interior and exterior space were paid close attention to. The scale of the project contrasts with the surrounding buildings while the configurations of the facade express unity to the surroundings. This new building provides unity to this part of the urban district, defining three different levels that generate a staggered progression of heights among the neighboring buildings.
The overall result is a fragmented and dynamic volume witch contrasts sharply with the exterior environment however the combination of classical and modern materials and the language containing formal references to functionalist architecture transform the intervention into an elegant exercise of urban adaptation.
