Khalili Multi-Purpose Building

Located at the vibrant heart of Shiraz, adjacent to the Namazi Hospital complex, the Khalili Multi-Purpose Building embodies a biophilic approach to architecture—one that seeks harmony between the built environment, nature, and human well-being. Conceived as more than a structure, the project represents a living ecosystem, designed to integrate healthcare, education, and community within a single dynamic environment.

The building’s organic, flowing form, inspired by patterns found in nature, evokes a sense of calm and continuity. Extensive use of glass blurs the boundary between interior and exterior, opening the spaces to natural light and surrounding greenery—a core principle of biophilic design that enhances both visual connection and psychological comfort.

By combining diverse functions within a unified framework, the project forms a complete urban microcosm: residential spaces for students and visitors coexist with advanced research and laboratory facilities, fostering collaboration and innovation.

The main entrance, defined by broad, inviting steps, creates a gesture of openness and hospitality, guiding visitors toward the heart of the building. At the topmost level, a dynamic green roof serves as a shared space for rest, interaction, and reflection, complemented by a state-of-the-art conference center that hosts gatherings for specialists and researchers from across disciplines.

Through its innovative integration of architecture, nature, and wellness, the Khalili Multi-Purpose Building stands as a symbol of progress, beauty, and human-centered design in the urban fabric of Shiraz—an expression of how built form can nurture both body and spirit.
