Marvdasht 1040 - Unit Residential Complex

Located in the outskirts of Marvdasht, in the province of Fars, these multiunit residential blocks offer an alternative to the typical suburban model. The goal of the project was to maintain a low budget without compromising the standards, while maintaining a great degree of quality of life. The group of residential blocks brings a welcome new idiom into the area. They differ from the neighboring rows of buildings and houses by considerably having more substantial properties, giving them the character of squat towers.
Each apartment consists of four floors thus the volumes and elevations are uniform in shape but have different colors. The irregular façades are the most distinctive element of the project, not only they take away from the uniformity and persistence they also act as a veil between public and private life.  Inside the stair case lies in the front of the apartment where a light wall opens so that natural light can penetrate the lower floors. The building structure presents a modular layout creating dynamic exteriors and interiors.
Its most characteristic trait is the special configuration of the blocks in respect to the site; all 65 blocks have been arranged considerably to ease access and circulation. Two parallel rounds embrace the site allowing access from the main road to the apartment buildings. The parkings are arranged in-between the blocks and are accessed by the pedestrian routs that follow-up to the apartment entrances. All apartments have access to play grounds and social spaces.
Redefining the environment within the urban scale; at a more immediate scale, this project provides a suitable response to the contextual needs of the zone by means of a skillful use of volume, form and function.
