Hotels are one of the major expressions of the magic essence of travel and the temporary and fleeting experience of visiting a place that is not one’s own. This highly varied, complex, seductive and essential architectural typology offers new parameters of luxury and glamour.
The volume presents a selection of establishments designed on the basis of this new way of understanding hotel accommodations. Two underground parking levels and a basement containing a restaurant, conference hall and leisure spaces lay beneath the ground floor that houses the lobby and commercial units that distribute up to the third floor. The fourth floor contains a restaurant, coffee shop and a distinct gym area. Fifth to tenth floor is the hotel units, while on the eleventh floor an additional restaurant and a coffee shop are employed.
The spaces are forged in the mold of a sensitive and up-to-date culture of interior design. A minimal architecture of glass and stone describes the façade and reveals the serene luxury of the interior. The architectural treatment is based on the desire to integrate materials in a contemporary manner.
The architect attempted to make the traveler feel at ease, using simplicity to create a luxury based on notions such as coolness, calm, boldness and gaiety rather than nostalgia or attachment to the past.
